  2. Jenn: I would recommend an 18 and/or 35 lbs. Go for one that is solid iron--or whatever that metal is; Ader is a good brand to consider. I have a 12 lbs one here and it just isn't enough. If they have them in Hawaii, look at Play It Again Sports--far cheaper than buying a new one.

  3. Yes. I would say that an 18 is probably the way to start. You might want a 9 or 12 for Turkish Get ups, but you could use a small dumbbell if you have one. They also have 24 pound KB. My KBs are apollo. I am very happy with them. I bought them online, but they sell that very brand in the Play It Again Sports here. If you can find such a thing, that is the way to go. Number one consideration is that they be iron and that you can grip the handle with both hands. Some brands have narrow handles, some aren't iron. A "bumper" on the bottom is on many of them, but that is not a problem. It is the whole "encased" in neoprene or plastic that is not as usefuld for Crossfit type workouts. All CF equipment needs to be able to be tossed around or dropped should that need arise.
