Run like a dog

Run as fast and as far as you can today.

Enjoy it.  The fact that you are able to do it means that you are alive and healthy.  Pay attention to what you see, what you smell and what you hear.  Use your senses.  If you are indoors, I am sorry.  Still try to look, listen and smell.

Post the details of your run here.  Most of all, have fun and take joy in your physical capabilities.

  1. Hi, G.

I have been PTing--too much perhaps--just not blogging. I will pick up today, but not try to go back over the last few days.

I love this post. You are so sentimental whereas I am not. But I will describe my short slow run around Camp Estelle for you.

Carl's recovering from illness and injury--the "why" behind slow and short. But today we talked and he told me about growing up. It was another glimpse into what makes people who they are and an opportunity to be grateful for all the good--and the REALLY good--that we have in our lives.

    I love you!

  2. Tessie and I ran hard. Well, Tessie rode. Sort of. This morning the girls all ran at Running Club. Tessie did a half mile, Ione 3/4 of a mile and Gwen did 1 mile. There was a dank smell about the air and a few sprinkles of rain. The grass was freshly mowed and there was a smell to it. One of the birdhouses has been overtaken by honey bees. I had to wonder if it was one of the swarms that I chased off.

Tessie and I. . . we ran hard for 80 minutes. Then I walked while drinking water. I ran for another 20 minutes after that and I was absolutely gassed. I still had to get home and I ran/walked and was home at about the 2 hour mark. We saw a roadrunner! Tessie was still talking about it at bedtime. "Daddy, do you remember the roadrunner?" We saw a California quail. They are crazy looking, and only mentioning it in conversation did Ho Jung tell me what kind of bird it is. She is a savant for plants, animals and bugs. Whatever her research is has someething to do with it. We saw flowers, a boat, ducklings (Tessie pointed them out). She loved running the loop around the lake. I had packed enough water to just keep running loops around, but I ran hard enough that I wasn't going to be able to. I was so completely shot that when we got home I gulped down three pints of water, ate a banana and some almonds and Tessie and I took a nap. I have never felt that shot after running. Except maybe the Eagle River Marathon. While some of it is lost capacity after a month of the girls being home, part of it was what I was after today. It was a gray day here. Not much sunshine at all. My quads are smoked which is new. Usually it is my calves.
